There are weddings—and then there are Weddings. The kind where history and elegance meet personal storytelling in a way that feels both grand and intimate. As a luxury wedding photographer, I’m fortunate enough to document some truly spectacular days, but this summer wedding at Westminster School was one I won’t forget.
From the moment I arrived at St Stephen’s Chapel, nestled just beside the Palace of Westminster, I knew the day was going to be something special. The chapel—rarely used for weddings—holds a solemn, sacred energy. The soft light filtering through the stained glass, the hushed reverence of its stone walls… It was the perfect setting for a ceremony that felt nothing short of royal.
A Ceremony at St Stephen’s Chapel, Westminster
The couple said their vows surrounded by close friends and family in a setting that few have the privilege to experience. Located within the historic complex of Westminster Abbey, St Stephen’s Chapel is rich with centuries of tradition. As a photographer drawn to classic, timeless imagery, I was in heaven. Every frame felt like it could have been lifted from a period film—yet it was real, and full of so much emotion.
A Walk Through the Heart of London
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds led their guests through the buzzing heart of Westminster. I captured beautiful candid moments as they strolled through the crowds, hand-in-hand, newly married, with Big Ben rising behind them. Tourists clapped, strangers cheered—it felt like the whole of London paused for a moment to celebrate them.
This walk from chapel to reception wasn’t just a transition; it was a living, breathing part of their love story. As a documentary-style wedding photographer, I’m always looking for those unposed, natural, joyful in-betweens—and this was pure magic.
The Reception at Westminster School
Westminster School—just steps from the Abbey—is one of London’s most prestigious schools and an incredibly rare venue for weddings. Most people walk past it never knowing the kind of grandeur it hides inside. The couple hosted their reception in the Great Hall, an awe-inspiring space with vaulted ceilings, historic oil paintings, and long wooden tables that echoed with laughter and clinking glasses.
As the sun streamed through the high windows, I photographed heartfelt speeches, spontaneous toasts, and elegant details that reflected the couple’s impeccable taste. The styling was minimal yet refined—think soft florals, ivory linens, crystal glassware, and hints of gold. Everything spoke of quiet luxury.
Golden Hour & Candid Moments
Before dinner, we slipped away for some portraits in the cloisters and the school’s private courtyard. The evening light was golden, wrapping the couple in warmth as they laughed and twirled and whispered to each other. These images are some of my favourites—timeless, romantic, effortlessly elegant.
One of the things I love most about luxury weddings like this is the balance between grandeur and intimacy. Yes, there were centuries-old settings and opulent surroundings—but at the heart of it all was a couple simply in love, surrounded by those who matter most.
