This was an ususual request, but one I jumped at! Two hours, just the Bride and Groom, getting married. The couple had previously dated in school, and then gone separate ways and had their own families in the process. Then having both divorced, found each other again! I guess some relationships are just meant to be! Having already been married once they decided that they would have a real low key affair this time, and surprise all of their friends and family afterwards. Well surprise! Jacqueline and Anthony set the date for Valentines day at Audleys Wood Hotel in Basingstoke. We were lucky with the weather but the country lanes we were going to take couple photos in were just a little bit muddy, so we stuck to concrete!
It was lovely having just the two if them, we went for a little walk around the grounds, and the time together really helped relax them and allowed them to not worry about the camera. We finished our walk and they had a champagne afternoon tea waiting for them. It was so lovely watching them together as newlyweds, with other families and couples turn gin up to have afternoon tea, they were oblivious to the fact that my bride and groom had just got married. It was like a little secret that we all had a part in, and it felt so special. No social media, no massive fuss, no big signs. It was just them.
I left Jacqueline and Anthony enjoying a selection of sandwiches, cakes and pastries. I wish them all the best for the future, and wish I could be a fly on the wall when they went home and told their families! What a surprise that would be! They’ll never forget the 14th February/valentines day again that’s for sure!
