A Beautiful Blessing after their Destination Wedding • Documentary Wedding Photography • Barton-le-clay Wedding Photographer

I first met Lucie and Simon with my fellow photographer friend Katrina to discuss their wedding. They were getting married in Skiathos, such a beautiful place, and Katrina would be capturing their day. They were then having a celebration in their hometown in the same Church that Lucie’s parents got married, and I would be lucky enough to capture their blessing. It was a gorgeous day for this celebration, and as they were already married they arrived together at the church, which was such a lovely touch.

It’s such a fab idea to have a blessing after a destination wedding, it means all your friends and family who couldn’t make it over can then celebrate with you at home, and it means you get to wear your wedding suit and wedding dress more than once! Who could say no to that!

It was very relaxed and there were no nerves, this was also great for their couple photos – they knew exactly what to do! After taking a few of them outside the church we headed over the road to Lucie’s family home. It was transformed from a normal English garden into a South African plain! Pictures of their lives together including some from their Skiathos wedding roped around the garden as bunting, balloon zebras hovered above heads, champagne was poured, guests perched on hay bails and hung out in the marquee. It was such a warm, friendly group; it was a pleasure to wander around capturing their natural smiles and laughter.

I also got to meet two very important little creatures – the tiniest of puppies – which of course, made my day complete! I left the guests to enjoy the rest of the night just as BBQ hog roast got going. What a perfect end to all their wedding celebrations!
