A Winchester Garden Party • Winchester Photographer • Natural Wedding Photography

It’s so lovely to be asked to photograph a couple’s wedding anniversary. The setting was absolutely idyllic, in their back garden with tents and games for the kids including a kids bar, beer tents for the adults, live music, pimms, trampolines, lanterns and glorious sunshine down in Winchester. It was a beautiful afternoon for a party! I love people watching and this was the perfect event for it! Finding moments of laughter in conversations, catching the children making up fancy ribena and capri-sun cocktails, and capturing guests seeing each other after a long time and catching up with a hug and kiss. A high light was when their niece played ‘Somewhere over the rainbow’ on her violin in front of everyone, you could see how much it meant to them, and that ‘proud’ was an understatement of how everyone felt.

The evening continued with a brilliant chorus of laughter and chinking of glasses/bottles; as the sun started to set on the hot July evening the guests were called together for a sing-a-long of Hey Jude; lyrics were handed out, including the hundred or so ‘nah, nah, nah’s’! Everybody got prepared and then started with happy birthday! It was a joint celebration of wedding anniversary and birthday so what better surprise than being serenaded by your guests! Everyone got into the swing of things with hands in the air and loud voices as Hey Jude was sung out in the garden.

Images for this occasion were particularly important to this gorgeous couple, as they missed out on having any photos of their actual wedding day. They did have disposable cameras on all the tables so the guests managed to get some pictures, however these images all got lost in the post! I’m so happy to be able to hand them over some lovely moments from their anniversary; I hope they will treasure them for a long time.
