Another short wedding this summer was held at the Novotel London Heathrow Hotel. A great contemporary hotel with high ceilings and a great bar area! We were very limited for this wedding, as there was a different event being held in the gardens of the hotel at the same time, so we couldn’t use these gardens for the group/couple photos. However, there is always a way! I noticed a piece of land to the side of the hotel that was flat and grassy with trees behind. We would use this area instead. It was a beautiful sunny day, so it would have been a shame to stay indoors, I was happy with this location, as were the couple.
It was great to be with the bride for a few getting ready shots before heading to the ceremony room, sometimes on the shorter weddings I don’t get to see the bride before the ceremony, or if I do, then it’s only for a short time, so it was nice to spend a good half hour with her in her room.
Her dress was beautiful, and she had a great number of hands on deck to help with everything, which was a squeeze in the hotel room, but great energy and buzz! I headed downstairs before her, waiting for her to exit from the lift! Capturing images of the groom waiting and her bridesmaids before she entered. The ceremony went without a hitch, and we shortly made our way outside for the group photos.
I loved taking the couple to the side after getting the bigger group images, and being creative with the two of them. Again, we could only use that area to the side of the hotel, but when the surroundings don’t inspire, we have to create something more. So with help from the bride’s veil and a little tree we managed to capture a few more intimate shots, and really get a variety of images for the newlyweds.
